Velvet Verbosity

The purpose of a blog seems self-evident. Don’t call me on my narcissistic tendencies.

Photohunt - Glass

star-glass.jpg

At the Dharma center that me and my children lived at for a year, there was an old rusted out jeep that sat in the parking lot, slowing rotting back into the earth. This is a picture of the windshield from inside.  At one time it had been a functional vehicle used to drive up the mountain trails to bring food and supplies to people staying in solitary retreat.  I’ve seen many friends come out of solitary retreat.  There is something different in their eyes.  A softness, an exquisite melancholy, a grounded joyfulness, a tenderness.

Photohunt - Wooden

Wooden Boat Angles

I met Photohunt, and right away knew that we were made for one another. This week’s hunt - Wooden. This photo was taken on a weekend trip to Rhode Island last summer, part of a series of shots that I took right around the B&B we were staying at.

Kenneth Parker Photography - Just Stunning

Don’t ask me why I’m suddenly into the whole review thing, but obviously I’m on that kick right now. There are just so many cool things on the internet, and so little time. For my few but loyal readers I feel almost responsible to share things that I find. To not share links and photos seems selfish somehow in a three year old kind of way.

“No, you can’t see it. It’s MINE!”

Velvet Verbosity doesn’t play like that.

So I bring you Kenneth Parker Photography. Stunning, beautiful photographs. The kind we all wish that expensive digital camera we asked for for Christmas would take automatically.

What’s on My Desktop

This photo is my current desktop image. I took this of my daughter about two years ago.

This is the same girl who created her own original works at a recent weekend retreat for Buddhist teens at the beautiful Karme Choling in Vermont. This is the same girl who makes me laugh and takes my breath away.
