Compound Fractures Cause Gray Hairs
Evil Kenievel (that would be my 16 year old son) is at it again. I think he’s trying to break the world record in Emergency Room visits. He flew off his skateboard yesterday and landed on his arm resulting in a compound fracture. If you don’t know what that means, it means SERIOUS, BADASS, and BLOODY. It means bones poking through skin. Yep, I’m a little more gray today.

Yikes, I can imagine. Raising boys can be truly hair raising and greying. My oldest will be 16 in July, youngest son 15 in August. They are at a Boy Scout campout this weekend.
Hope Evil Knievel there heals well.
My #1 asked if he could have a skateboard. I said sure, so long as he was willing to risk breaking bones.
That was the end of the skateboard.
I raised three boys. We never had any serious breaks (compound = bone through the skin) but we had cuts and bruises, concussions (serious stuff, concussions) and abrasions galore. I know that doesn’t help your current situatuion any, but it’s just that boys are resilient and I’ll bet he’ll be okay. After he heals.
Ack, vv! Hugs to you and your young daredevil!
Thanks everyone. Sassy Mama Bear, yikes! Two teenage boys. I bow down to you.
Susan, that line wouldn’t have worked on Evil Kenievel. No matter how many times he ends up in the emergency room he still thinks accidents aren’t going to happen to him. If I’ve learned nothing else from parenting I’ve learned that we can do our best to influence, but kids are born with certain personalities. My son has always wanted to take chances. It’s in his blood.
Lceel, young’uns are resilient because they have to be! Sheesh. My son thought he had lost a tooth because he thought he felt something fly out of his mouth and I said, “Yeah, that was one of your nine lives”.
MPJ, thanks for the hugs. I’ll pass it on if he’ll let me. Any touching that even slightly jars his arm makes him yelp.
