100 Words on Christmas Spirit - A Child’s Wonder

He stumbles out of his room, the sleep still in his eyes, his footie pajamas shuffling softly on the carpet. I can barely contain my joy at what I know is about to happen. I’m waiting for the big present to register in his consciousness. He blinks three times, then stumbles faster toward the tree. He looks at me, his eyes lit up with wonder as he points at this fantastic thing Santa has brought him and he really believes. I want to bottle his Christmas Spirit in a jar and give it out in doses all through the year.

That is nice. I love that feeling of christmas spirit. And I wish we could all get back the true magic we felt as kids. Pretty amazing.

My three sons have given me and Annie so many moments like that through many years. My oldest son is 25 now, the next 23 and the youngest, 16. Even at these ripe, old ages, they still ‘light up’ come Christmas Morning, although now they know who Santa really is and there are no ’secrets’ anymore. They still look forward to gifts given with love, and to the memories sparked by the Christmas Morning ritual - memories we all share.

Larmsterpoet - that’s probably why many of us have children. So we can continue to live that magic vicariously through them, at least for a little while.

Lceel - So nice to hear since I am in the throes of living with two teens. TWO. At the SAME TIME. If I make it through the next two years it will be a miracle. And I will be standing in line for my sainthood pin. Mmmm hmmm.
